Wembury as a Location

Wembury has been my family's beach of choice for generations so I have a great connection with the area and many fond memories. It used to have a fantastic sandy beach but this was washed away during the Great Storm that hit the UK in 1987. As a result this exposed a large amount of the rock beneath and as a result has many large and deep rock pools that I hope to shoot some underwater footage with my Broom-Cam (GoPro attached to a broom handle).
Wembury is situated on the coastline to the entrance to Plymouth Sound from the east. The area is known for its many wrecks and is a popular location for divers due to it's clearer waters and abundant fish and other wildlife. Several old cannon have been discovered among the wrecks as well as a bronze ships bell with the name 'Nilhus' engraved. This bell that was dated between 17th and 18th century was kept at Fort Bovisand and later stolen. I hope to include some bell sounds in the films soundtrack as church and also to simulate the bell ringing on a buoy.

The Great Mew Stone (Mew meaning Herring Gull in old English) that lies just off the coast has been a protected wild bird sanctuary for many years. Previously it was a prison for an exiled criminal, a family home and during World War 2 it was commissioned by the Ministry of Defence where it was used for target practice by the now decommissioned gun batteries of HMS Cambridge.
