I had already decided to source some eerie atmospheric background sound for the piece. I had considered perhaps to include perhaps a muted sea shanty or hurdy gurdy music much like the theme music to the pirate drama series Black Sails but after much thought decided to stay with the original ideas of background sounds. I had recorded the bell toll at St Wenburgh's at midday during the last days shooting adding some slight reverb and fade as they sounded quite tinny, I also had a fair amount of bird song in the background which I was advised would be difficult to edit out completely as bird song covers a wide audio range so I cut the bell tolls individually.

The sea sounds and gulls were sourced from my previous film strand Focus on Plaice and from freesound.org. That sound was short and had to be repeated to fill the film so each section was manipulated with audio filters in Premiere so as not to be repetative.
